Which damage per second class does the best damage in a grp with constant pulls? Assuming a tank is present around mid lvl range. And what do you think the order is?

Rouge
Monk
Bst Lord
Necro
Magician
Wizard
Ranger

ok

So how are the casters like necro and mage doing compared to ranger damange? Melee vs caster damage dealers is my biggest question.

Generally speaking, casters will always front-load (except in a necro's case) a lot more DPS than melees, but they're limited to mana and can't keep up chain-casting for too long. Classes like rangers and monks have a lower DPS potential, but are able to put it out consistantly over time without the limitation of mana. Rogues are just sick.

They're difficult to compare though, because each class's effectiveness rises and falls in different situations. Mid level, I would say forget about the ranger, as bow DPS isn't enough to justify the amount of arrows you'd have to carry around, and monk/beastlord would probably out-damage the ranger's melee, while their respective abilities and buffs would make them twice as useful. I've never played a caster, but I would imagine that mages would be quite handy, as would wizards (assuming aggro could be managed properly). Safest bet would probably be a rogue, though, if your concern was purely DPS.

Last I saw, Monks didn't do Ranger-esque DPS, though. :p

That wasn't the point. I was just speaking up against all the idiotic rumor-mongering that makes people think a perfectly good class sucks.

This is true, rogues are currently recovering from the backstab nerf... I'm guessing it will take us another month or ten to get our health back.

Unfortunately the only medicines known to speed up recovery for this particular disorder is a strong dosage of the highly expensive Double-backstabillin, or the VERY rare, Cripplingblowissium... neither of which are currently available on Winter's Roar at this time. :(

PS. Warriors with max flurry and crips are getting awfully close to rogue dps. (admittedly a guesstimate)
PPS. An unfrequent (2% per AA level?) double backstab isnt that much different than just critting on a backstab. Just adds some flavour into the very bland and uneventful thing of playing a rogue(!).
PPPS. Rogues (masters of melee damage) are one of the very few melee classes not to get crip AAs.
PPPPS. Think of the women and children.

PS: No

PPPS: Blame PoP AA dispersion.
PPPPS: No :D

-----> Not even close. If you're talking about constant DPS in a continual pull environment, Necro DPS is about equatable to a.. uh.. Druid, or something. The mana draw for all DoTs versus the damage they get out on a mob that dies quick (with the exception of Poison DoT changes) is absolutely pathetic.

And don't look at Necro pets. They're just embarassing.

My druid has just about no use other than a teleport bot. The above statement makes me sad . :sadf:

(Oh, and the best class at sustained damage is Rogue)

yes I'm reviving a dead topic as I was looking for some guides :p Anyways, mage DPS is a pretty constant thing as well, if you take their pet with a summoned weapon into account. As the pet whacks away, a mage can add some burst DPS with some nukes to make whatever you're fighting's life unpleasant. While not quite as good as a rogue, I'd still put it up there near the top, provided the mage knows what they are doing.
