Beastlords and defense and mitigation

ive noticed that beastlord take alot more damage when get hit then other classes especially on whirlwinding mobs, so i was looking through my skills list adn noticed most of our defensive skills cap pretty low, lowest in almost evey skill except a few.
for beastlords they only cap at 230 defense? perhaps a long over looked typo, but every other melee class caps at 250.

Perhaps changing beastlords to capping defense skill at 250 is in line? i cant think of a reason why not. they already get the lowest ac share most geat with caster, and then the tanky gear they do get is more based around dgodging/blocking/reposting things they are fighting like monks. which are all skills that beastlords also capp kinda low in. im not saying make beastlords tank.. just that i dont see the reason their mitigation needs to be so gimped.

i think its because bst get other ways to stay alive then pure mitigation. a couple examples would be self heals as well as the ability to wear boots with 100% chance to proc a heal.

All of the beastlord defensive skills cap lower than say, monks:

Defense: 230 -> 250 for monks
Dodge: 225 -> 250
Riposte: 200 -> 225
Block: 200 -> 250

Beastlords also cannot Disarm or Intimidate, and they don't get any styles beyond the generic /s 3 that improve avoidance or mitigation (other than /s 7, which a) requires a live pet, and b) doesn't actually improve avoidance or mitigation, it just gives them a bigger hp pool to heal back, assuming the pet is taking no damage itself).

Beastlords do get self heals, but the self heal is not very useful for staying alive. It ends up that you're chaining the self heal while whatever was going to kill you anyway kills you, albeit a little slower than before.

If you're worried about taking too much damage from WW or phantom strike or other melee hits, have you considered using AC augs?

Having higher caps of defense or other skills would help but an extra 100 raw AC would likely help more. Even with both I doubt bsts would suddenly be tanks or anything though so I don't see why not.

Self healing totally makes up for lacking in the mitigation department, just ask any Paladin.

Is this purely in regards to WW/Phantom mobs? In duo/less than less than ideal groups the Beastlord slows have to count for something- yeah?

rangers get heals and chain/plater armor... they get 250 def...

and yes im re augging ac and getting a charm... galsan and apros scolded me for both already...

and lleoc stop hating on muh boots...
