im lookin for a really good 2hs weapon for my lvl 37 DE SK and im having trouble deciding between Battle Axe of the Frozen Golem and a Warpmetal Greatsword.......after using both the greatsword hits for more than the axe but i never hit anything with the frost strike........do i gotta be lvl 40 for the frost strike to proc and is the axe a better long term weapon or should i use the greatsword

Yeah you need the rec. level to proc a piece of gear.
The Warpmetal Greatsword will probably do slightly more DPS. You are getting near the level where the class strengths and weaknesses become more pronounced - make sure you have the skills and gear to make the transition to one hander and shield. If you don't already have a level appropriate shield and one-handed weapon I would spend my money on that and stick with the Battle Axe of the Frozen Golem for DPSing easy stuff.
