Bard songs - group related (pets in particular)

Do bard songs affect pets on WR? I always thought it was kind of lame that they didn't affect pets on EQL. I mean if the bard is grouped with just a few casters or maybe one mage...why shouldn't his songs affect the pets as well?

I understand that from a RPing point of view the pets aren't "moved" by the song, so they don't soak up the benefits of it. But that only makes sense until you think of how a bard can use songs to charm mobs (even mobs who couldn't understand the bard's songs anyway) or that they can debuff a mob (I guess by hurting the mob's morale or something).

I really liked playing a bard, so I'm trying to find out the answer to this question. It's kind of tough to get groups on WR due to the number of players on. And since bards are primarliy a group class (I HATE kiting with a passion) I'm wondering at their abilities here.

Pets are affected by bard songs, both group and AE variety.

It's both a blessing and a curse, you know. Long duration selos + charm = dead bard when charm breaks.

Oh those level 53 pumas.

Also, I have noticed that selos, for instance, hits a charmed pet from about halfway across a zone (the blight, in my tests). A group member has a more normal range to be hit by the pulse. If you need selos (plaguelands, in nuralia's example), park the pet, run off, break charm, reselo, then recharm. Merely running off a long way and redoing selos isn't reliable - you'll get a guided missile puma when the pet breaks =)

Foma brings up an excellent point. Why is it that Selo's hits your pet 1/2 way across the zone, but not group members? It's really annoying.

I actually like it that way. Haste songs work the same way and its nice not having to be within 2 feet of your charmed mob. Id take a guess that it is nice for mages and such too for when they cast burnout and other buffs.
