Bandaging

I think bandaging in combat should be allowed.

For instance, a friend and I were in Halls of Mielech and I evac'd us out of a bad situation. Unfortunately he was taken to -1 hp just before I evac'd us, but I cannot help him because "I am too distracted" to bandage him back to health. If we were actively being hit I could understand, but there was nothing near us that was attacking us.

Any chance this could be changed?
 
You can thank the folks who used Bind Wounds as a way to get around the PLing code for healing during combat on alts.

Doubt this will be changed unless someone takes alot of time to work with the code to prevent just such a thing from happening again.
 
why not just allow people to pl their alts again in that fashion? i mean...who seriously cares anymore? also, why should the few people that abuse that be able to ruin it for everyone who plays honestly?

You are absolutely right! Holy crap. Your incredible insight and deep introspection in to this request and the possible solutions you put forth were nothing short of mind blowing. That you were also able to objectively suggest the pros and cons of each solution was also amazing! So few people in this forum do that, and let me tell you, it REALLY helps us out when you do.:psyduck:




Here's some food for thought.

  • Bandaging works as before (holds you in place, targets must stay still)
  • Rather than healing all at once when bandaging is done, it gives you FRAGILE HoT for the duration of the freeze, affected by your bandaging skill, probably in the bard box
  • Therefore you can bandage in combat, as long as you aren't currently being attacked or AE'ed, and can stay still
This gives bandaging more of a use for all non healing classes (Getting a couple tick heals in between AEs for example). It doesn't change out of combat bandaging. It would still trigger the assistance penalty during power leveling. It gives more decisions and options combat (instead of root and run, or stun trap and hope for a crit backstab, now you can try to slow down the mob and get a couple ticks of heal in).

On the downside, it could possibly change balance in the raid game, possibly trivializing some encounters. It would require some recoding that may not be possible depending on how the client handles bandaging as is (it already IS different from live though, so it may be possible).

Overall, while bandaging in combat is not a game breaker by any means, it's proper inclusion can add alot to the dynamics of combat, without undoing the safeties that caused its removal in the first place.

my only beef with bandaging is that i think it should crit or be affected by healing inc.

at 270 bind wound it takes a while to heal i just think these additions would make melee itemization more fun as well as a decrease in solo recovery time (yes, i could load a healer bot but in some zones i like soloing, i find it more interesting).

basically these 2 changes or one or the other would make bandaging more viable to gain hp between fights for those who hate boxing??

it's not serious enough to get mad about. i suggested making it easy on everyone. if you enjoy the long route because you're so concerned about having your cake and eating it too, then fair enough you win. oh and for encounters that you worry it will trivialize maybe add a small stun/knockback to the ability of the mob so the tank can never stay still and be bandaged.
