Bail?

Birlic

Dalayan Adventurer
I found out about the Jail feature (in PoJustice) yesterday, through a broadcast message announcing someone being jailed for one hour.
How about also introducing a bail system? Someone being jailed could pay a fee and continue adventuring instead of having to go AFK for one hour. It doesn't necessarilly have to be a small fee, so it'd still be a lesson well learned. :)

Since this is an alternative to bannings... adding a way to get out of it seems to moot the point, no?

Bans should be the punishment for serious offenses. Jail time for more innocent ones :)
I believe fines as an alternative to jail time make sense from an RP point of view. Again, it does not have to be a small fee and they could even be adjusted for inflation over time, as the high level characters become increasingly rich.
A fine may teach a lesson as much as "ok, I've been jailed, I'll go AFK and watch a movie and return in one hour".

There will not be a way to use in-game items to get out of a jail sentence. It replaces everything but bans, including temp bans, which are far from "innocent ones."

Actually, I kind of like this idea, although using plat to buy your way out would be wrong, imo.

What might be worth it would be good, old fashioned, xp loss. Note, I am talking about XP loss, not debt.

One hour = 25% of a level, or something like that.

Going to Prison seems to be a 'fun' idea for some people, or something that's going to happen lots? Seems it's meant as a more serious thing than this....

Also, rogues should be put in prison. All of them.
(Or perhaps only when they have X heat and get caught? :p)
((Not that heat is working atm, right?))

Heat is totally working.

Last night I wanted to see how high I could get my heat out of curiosity. Managed to get it so high that the guards would see through stealth (when normally even at, "max heat," they wouldn't) and attack me through walls/doors.

Oh right, last I heard people were asked not to create heat due to zone crashing/problems/issues. I guess this was fixed and I missed the message.
