Bag Stacking

As we all know, bagspace is tight, and ikisith didn't make it any better. So anything that would increase the ammount of storage room for a toon would be a worthwhile thing.

The whole container size vs item size thing raised the following idea to alleviate the problem:

Containers (and items) come in the categories [GIANT], [LARGE], [MEDIUM], and [SMALL]. Considering that items only fit into their size category or larger, would it be too far fetched to stuff some [SMALL] bags and their content into a [LARGE] or [GIANT] container, and maybe some [MEDIUM] boxes into a [GIANT] container?

(I intentionally suggest that containers need to be atleast 2 size categories smaller then the one you want to fit them in so that bags in bags in bags is not going to happen.)

If this is a terrible idea (or not possible due to client restrictions), please let me know.

god damn that would rule.
What about the possibilities of like larger than 10 slot bags? I dont really know how things work with that here like Nwaij mentioned about clients restrictions and such, but man with all this ikisith stuff, vah stuff, quest stuff, clickies, room doesnt exist. The key stuff really helped but still running short on space!

I thought at one point Wiz said he tried bigger than ten slot bags and it didn't work. Could be incorrect though.

12 slot tailored bags would be nice. It would upgrade space but not to the point of ridiculous. Plus it would give the tailors something not reproducable (or beatable) via drops. I'd say no wt. reduction, just a simple 12 slot giant sized container. Perfect for banking.

I have a feeling if any of this was remotely possible it would have gone in already.

what about a chat command bag of holding (ala dnd)

something like /cm store01_itemname

/cm recall01_itemname

/cm baglist_01

could hold unlimited things?????

I'm pretty sure that I have heard similar to what others have pointed out, that there is some reason related to the client, or possibly the coding is very difficult, and that's what limits the number of slots, but I'm not sure enough to call it a fact. Even if we never get more space it's not a biggie deal, just one of those "it would be nice if" kinda things. It's not like with 2 acounts and 8 characters allowed on each I can't make do. I was sort of thinking about it not just in terms of convenience for storage, but also because I like things that make tradeskills more in demand. Tailoring is pretty useful as is though, so it's all good.

Limited inventory is part of the game.

That being said limited bank space is much less intended. The most elegant way of doing it would simply be allowing no drop items to go into your house storage.

Refining my original idea with Zaelas comment about inventory slot ID's and Woldaffs insight on how inventory slots are supposed to work:

How about a special container called "Private Save". Make it GIANT size 10 slots, and make it so that bags can be put into this and only this out of all containers. Also make it LORE to adress the issue of inventory slot ID inflation. To adress the issue of people carrying it around, make it really REALLY heavy, 1000+ stones. Maybe make it cost 10.000pp or the like as well, to discurage its useage on alts/mules, reducing the inventory slot inflation even more and to have another plat sink.

That way, people would get an aditional 100 bank slots per toon (the same ammount of slots can be obtained with a platinum house, you just can't store nodrop items there), while also adressing the issue of nodrop items being shared between toons on the same account (wich, with house inventory slots work right now, would be possible with nodrop items going to houses).

That sounds pretty good. Would there be any problems with this being used as a listsold bag, or should that be restricted as well?

I was very sadface the first time I made a private storage in my house, then discovered it wouldn't accept no-drop items
