Aux Tanking

So I've read all the threads that tank about how auxiliary tanking works, but all of them are fairly outdated and don't exactly answer the question: How is the max damage reduction achieved?

Is the max affect reached when two people are aux tanking? Regardless of AC?

Can one person with a ton of AC achieve the maximum amount of mitigation alone?

Discuss.

I beleive aux taking works like rampaging whereas two people can take damage IE the two highest on the list of aggro. If a ton of people are surrounding the front of a mob randomly however people are going to get hit and take a hit or two away from the tank. This is what I want to know if it's from having aggro or just being there

It checks all defensive abilities (mitigation, ac etc) with the exclusion of styles and factors that into how much aux percentage each character adds. There is a cap though.

That's not how rampage works, I don't really understand anything else in your post

Rampage issues hits to one other player; getting hit from the front by repostes is a different matter all together. I guess this answers your question, it's hard to tell.

Errr with Rampage there can be a maximum of two people assisting the tank no?

Are you high? :monocle:

Rampage means that the mob hits one other person besides the main tank, assuming there is another person in melee range. If not then the mob hits the tank even more.

also aggro has nothing to do with who gets hit by ramapge which was the part of ryu's post I was refuting

And I'm assuming the cap can't be made public?

I knew all of this information maybe I was high i'm not sure. :(

I was wondering some things about aux tanking as well. I have noticed that when I am fighting several mobs my damage seems to hit the floor, in other words the mobs are aux tanking for eachother I assume. So, I was wondering do mobs aux tank the same as players, ie based on their ac hp etc. and if so maybe they aux a little too well since at higher levels mobs have quite a lot of hp and when I pull four or five rats+ in DN I am assuming they max aux tank pretty quick. Of course this could all be in my head. I was wondering if this is indeed happening and if mobs indeed aux the same as players and maybe it should be adjusted for mobs much higher hps. Just some thoughts.
