Augment Idea

I like how you have some special augments such as the main quest augment and the faction augment from heartland plateau. I have an idea for some others if it is possible. I think it would be cool to have the various gate amulets (amulet of newport, athica, rivervale, ...) become augments instead of neck items. They could be added to an item that does not alrwady have a clicky effect, giving that item the gate effect. Obviously, some tricks would have to be worked out, such as what augment type to make each (perhaps having them linked to class armor types?). Just an idea that I recently thought of. Interested to hear any feedback.

Amulett of the Vale Hero would make a sweet augment for sure :lol:

So I guess one would have to give up some stats. Even Newport neck would be somewhat overpowered as an augment.

I like the idea tho. Maybe there is a way to keep it as a neck item as it is OR decide to make it an augment (by adding something via augmentation kit i.e.) and give it stats like an exceptional quality augment i.e. Should fit in all armor type tho.
 
While the idea is pretty interesting, I dont really see how its going to be useful in any way. No one is going to augment something they wear, because that would mean throwing away a slot for more hp/mana/whatever, which would just lead to people augmenting crap armor and bagging it - the same effect as the necks currently. That is, unless you're proposing that these faction augments also have stats and whatnot, in which case I do believe they dont want augments to be too powerful (aka. nothing comparable to MQ augments). And if they have stats that arent comparable to mq augments, then different people are going to want different things in their augments (some want hp, some mana, some ac, etc) but they cant all be there on an aug (too powerful) so they'll just revert to using regular augments again.

Unless I'm misunderstanding, which I probably am, in which case I'll just shut up :(

Anyways, it seems like a lot of work (if its even possible) for a seemingly negligible change. Also, different people want different things from an augment, so how would one decide what type of exceptional quality augment they would get? Either its fixed (which would make some people not use it) or you have to add even more things to customize that. I personally feel that the current neck system is fine, but then again, I may be missing something :p

Different items added to the neck = different stats on augment. Pretty simple but admittedly I have no clue how much work that is ;)

Indeed there is nothing terribly wrong with the system, but still I find the idea attractive. Somewhat more... elegant ;)
 
Sounds like a good idea to me, but it doesn't seem like it will be used to the fullest should it be implemented. First, let's take a look at al the portnecks a player could possibly have at a given time:
SK/DHK
Newport
Athica
Grobb
Rivervale

Forgive me if I forgot one. But that's 5 necks right there, and should they be made into augments, there will be no way you can choose what type of stats you would prefer, just like you can't choose the stats on the regular necks. A character can have a total of 22 items equipped, assuming they're using all of their slots, and weapons can't be augged, so there 2 less, which leaves 20, and not all equipment in the game is auggable, which leaves even less. Assuming a character had all the necks, they would be filling at least 25% of their augment space with augs who's stats may not best suit said character's class, or needs. Would it really be worth it to take up an aug slot just so you don't have to take 10 seconds and change necks and click to get where you're going?

OK I'll try again

Take the neck, put it into an augmentation kit, add a (yet to be added) item of your choice to make it a exceptional quality like augment with the stat of your choice (depends on which item you add).

P.S: read: you LOSE all stats of the necklace. You GET something like 6 AC, 20 Mana etc. And you keep the gate spell, of course.

You made a suggestion, he replied to your suggestion with what the staff's plans were and you became a complete asshole about it.

I'd be surprised if you don't get verbally abused for sassing like that, pretty uncalled for.

Well I suspect, and this is a guess here, that if Xeldan says we don't plan on adding any more augments, then it's rather likely we're not to add any more augments :D

First of all: If you want to add something to a thread, read it first, ok?

I didn't make a suggestion. I added some ideas to (maybe) make it work. Thats all.

Also, don't shit up this thread by making totally retarded comments. Who do you think you are?
