I thought it would be fun tonight to try and host an event of sorts myself. So I offered 400pp to a group of players who could team up and defeat Cyrus. They could form a team whose total lvls would not exceed 90. We ended up with a 29 monk, a mid 30s shaman, 40s necro, yes yes I know thats more than 90 but it ended up being about having some fun and a chance for them to win some cash.

Anyways round one went well for them as they got me down in some hitpoints but it was obvious the battle would not be to close so we waited for another to arrive and then we were going to start round 2. A lvl 50 beastlord showed up and this would surely make this a bit more challenging.

The team sat in a line across from me and mediated up...... it was at this point that two 65's came into Slaughter Island and proceeded to slay everyone there... I asked them (my guildmembers) to stop but they did not, rather the OOC reply was WELCOME TO PvP!

My attempt at a fun event ended with several tells about why that happened, why would guild members come in and slay them and me... to which I replied I am sorry. I gave out 200pp to each participant and repeatedly apologized. I know this was a PvP arena but one would think on a server of this size people might have a bit more courtesy .... or at least your guildmates might.

To those that came to try at something new I apologize and swear to you that I did not plan for such to happen and hope you do not take it as a refelection of Nightfall or of me.


I"m posting this because:
1. I'm still pissed as it took a long time to get people to even think this was serious

2. I feel badly for those that stopped what they were doing to try something different only to be cut short and dead.

3. Is there another way to host such an event or does it just need to be left up to the GMs to do anything that is different?
 
I'm obviously no GM, but I think it was a WONDERFUL idea. While it may not have been successful, this was not your fault and I hope that the other players understand that. You just have to be more careful.

As far as the other players ruining the fun, may Marlow haunt your dreams at night and Kaezul hunt you during the day. You deserve a swift kick in the arse and I hope you get what's coming to you soon (because it IS coming).

I considered tagging along to that event you had going on; however, decided that a 13 ranger wouldn't be much help. :)

Haven't had a chance to talk to my friend (the 50 beastlord) about how he felt about the situation... although I think I know what he'll say.

Glad you put forth the effort to do something fun like that, hopefully you'll have more luck next time... if there is a next time. :mad:

Would be quite sad if something like this detoured you from trying again at a later date.

Very uncool. I'm glad to hear players are putting forth effort to have some player-run events, it sounds like it could be some real fun. I'm rooting for ya. :D

o btw , kerra is suppose to be a PVP zone aka anything goes. doesnt matter if its a guildy or not its pvp suppose to be fun. the point is i wasnt there might have been xyng playin me but it doesnt matter i would have killed u n those lvl 30s if u were in the zone
 
Hey, sorry it went so badly, not to make you do more events, but int he future you could try a diff approach? The ideas that I had were scavenger hunts. The way i would do it would be to /duel all contestants so that they would not have an exp debt, be totally buffless, and have no items (they couldn't re-loot bodies yet) they would have to go hunting for items in easy enough zones and bring them back. if they go in a zone with a bank where they might have alternative gear you would eliminate them, and the first one back with all items wins. You could do rat fur from the warrens and maybe some kind of well, whatever, you get the idea. I thoth maybe if I had tme i could come up with some riddles and some cash and do one of these myself. Anyways, its food for thought :brow:

He's fine with it 200pp for 4% debt although he has some rough feelings about Xyng. He though it lame that Xyng even did that and even more lame that he stepped back after his beastlord was low hp and let a DoT kill him. All in all i think he'd try it again and i think i'd join him this time.
 
Yeah, Brontolith summed it up pretty well for me; I have to correct him on one thing, though--I did die from the DoT, but he didn't step back. When the root dropped, I took the opportunity to run(albiet slowly) towards the zoneline. *then* I died. :)

Anyway, all's well that end's well, and 4% debt isn't much to worry about, even at 50.

Don't let them deter you from trying to do such things in the future; It was a great concept, and I'm sure we would have all had fun.

While not strictly against the rules I suggest that you faggots who feel it's incredibly fun to shit all over other people's efforts just because you can try to restrain yourselves lest you find your petition response times dramatically increased.

Better hope your character never gets corrupted.

Unless you mean the derogatory term for homosexuality. why would you bring that up? melwin didn't mention one thing about homosexuals, or his post would have read:

If you still feel you were wrongly treated, shrug. You won't find someone to argue with in me. Regardless of how you feel about it, I was justified in doing what I did, and it had nothing to do with you being from Ruin. If you disagree, there's nothing I can do to convince you otherwise, and nothing will come of it, so please don't bring up ancient hot potatoes that have long since gone freezing cold.
