At level 44, necromancers get a decent new DoT, Asystole. I've tried using it for about one level but and then stopped, due to its high resist rate. Currently the only level 44 spell I am actively using is the pet.
Here's some data I collected in Faentharc in year 49, month March, day 09:
Char name: Morticus
Class: Necromancer
Level: 44 / 45 at the time of the experiment
CHA: 79-82 (no big difference experienced with 86 CHA)
Mob: a gemanthian (most conned blue, few even, very few yellow)
Spell: Asystole (a 44 necro's second best DoT)
Resists: 28 out of 51 attempts (55%)
Spell: Venom of the Snake (a 44 necro's best DoT)
Resists: 3 out of 9 attempts (33%)
Spell: Vampiric Curse
Resists: 1 out of 10 attempts (10%)
I do not have data but I tried Asystole quite extensively on various dark blue frogloks in Mielech B and experienced a similar (> 50%) resist rate. Not as extensively, but still tried on various dark blue mobs in other zones, with similar resist ratio resulting.
Before you point out my rather low CHA: this is my first SoD char so I had no cash for twinking when I started. I've spent most of the money I made on upgrades and CHA was one of the stats I payed attention to when purchasing / questing gear, after learning of its role for casters. Current extra stats I get from gear: +26 CHA / +37 INT.
