Arch Sultan AE

The AE from the Arch Sultan in PoAir, Skysunder is currently able to critical blast for 10000 damage, making the fight pretty unbalanced.

EDIT: It seems to only be hitting for 10k on the person who has agro on Sultan. Seeing as how he summons while getting ready to AE, this fight would be incredibly hard for a guild that actually needs to kill Sultan.

For what it's worth, our guild killed Sultan a few times over the past month or two when it was quite "appropriate" for our current level (e.g. none of his loot rotted, some items went to MT, some to best dps, etc). We found that Sultan, while he can nuke for 10k :) , is still relatively on-par difficulty wise. Of course, knowing how to do this fight makes him a breeze, but the death-touch can throw you a curve ball.

tbh that nuke is really the only thing that makes him more diffcult than other mobs in poa , and like hooden said its all about a good strat . also if he gets nerfed his gear would probally would too

I'm not saying the 5k nuke should be nerfed at all, as you said its one of the things that make him unique. He already requires tank switching, so an insta-kill (on tanks of that level) on a tank is a bit extreme. As for strategy, it doesn't seem like the MT can avoid the AE at all, because Sultan still summons while getting ready to nuke everyone.

Anyway, its just something I noticed and thought was a bit extreme.

Not that I'm looking to argue or anything hostile, but it is possible to resist the AE.

i havent killed sultan many time , maybe 5-6ish but i have seen the full 10k very rarely . i think that the chance to crit should be kept in tbh most tanks doing poa do/should have about 7.5-10k hp (so most tanks would die if it crits) but this brings in a harder strat where as a healer you have to be able to see whos tanking and be able to switch back and forth quickly.

from my point of view if you go there with 2 tanks and a monk this isnt a hard fight . but again i havent done his mob alot

We did it yesterday 3 different times (without the ideal people, but a few different tanks etc) and we saw the 10k nuke 4 times, once on Junius, once on Ginam and twice on me, all while they were tanking (I survived the nuke both times because I'm a champ). We didn't have a bard the first time, and the second time the bard was the ST and kept getting interrupted, hence the lack of resists.

well i guessing you guys have very good stats so that wouldnt be it , but how was your dps ? i know his nuke is based on engage so if he was killed slower he would have nuked more and therefore have a larger chance to crit

just my input

Terate and Kemper, as well as Junius and ginam, so probably more dps than some 18 man raids :toot:

not really sure then but i know its has been very rare from my experences

It's not really that rare, but for this specific fight you literally have to plan to use multiple tanks. I think each time you can expect at least one person to eat the dirt even with 500 resists.

Sultan is really one of the easier fights in Air IMO, with some of the better loots when you look at the risk vs reward. With at least 12+ people (aka a raid), I can't recall a time we had an extreme amount of difficulty even with the 10k damage.
