Someone made a suggestion a while back that I thought was great. IIRC it didn't get a staff response, so I thought I'd bring it up again.
Currently, targetable AOE spells only hit mobs that have you on their hate list; even then, it seems to be a little sketchy sometimes. This was done for good reasons: AOE'ing in friendly zones during big events (see Kaezul's invasion of newport 2 years ago) screwed people over bigtime on faction. These days, though, it's a massive pain in the ass--yet its original purpose is still a concern, especially with the war making it to Athica periodically.
So, the solution: make it so that targetable AOEs can hit mobs that are A) within range of the spell; B) within line of sight of the caster; and C) are KoS (scowling or threatening).
This would eliminate the problem of killing friendlies without making it so you have to drop a heal or whatever to get on an aggro list. That costs valuable time and mana, and it's not even a viable solution for classes without heals.
So, what do you say? Is it doable?
