Any fix for the first-person view combat graphic glitch?

I had heard from someone that a fix had been developed to fix the issue with many nvidia cards that causes a lot of graphic garbage when you swing a weapon in first-person view, and he said it was listed somewhere in the technical support section.

I've been searching for it, and I can't seem to find it anywhere, so I'm guessing it's not true? If so, that's such a bummer; It's just not right playing this game in anything but first-person, imo.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Thanks a lot man! I managed to get rid of the glitch, but I can't figure out what's causing the game to run so poorly.

It seems to be way worse than the last time I played, and I've even upgraded my computer since then. I'm noticing a lot of mouselag and stuttering when I move my character - it's pretty strange. Has anyone else experienced this with newer hardware, and is there a way to fix it as well?

Clean your mouse.

Clean your mouse.

If only it were something that simple...

It moves much less from left to right, than it does from top to bottom. I'm not sure what could be causing it; I don't remember dealing with it the last time I played.

Do you have something else running on your machine causing lag? Is your machine slow or low on memory? Are you seeing the lag issue outside of the game?

Sometimes weird video or mouse drivers can have odd effects too.

Strangely enough, it seems like the bulk of my problems were coming from windows 7. I reformatted to XP last night and the game runs great now. I'm not sure what that's about since I know there are many people running Win 7 on SoD with no probs.

Anyway, at least the game is playable again :)

Probably a driver issue. Not all drivers will work without problems on the new OS, and new drivers won't always work with this old game.

Yeah, that's gotta be what it was. For the sake of simplicity, and my sanity, I think I'll stick with XP for now :p. I'm really not the most computer savvy person, so ironing out everything with 7 would take awhile.

Despite that I'm using XP again, I notice the mouse problem is back. It's weird - when I'm in fullscreen the mouse is the same speed on both the y and x axis, but the game is stuck at a 60 fps and seems to have a lag delay. And when I do the Alt + enter windowed mode, the game runs flawlessly (like around 300+ fps), no lag, but the mouse moves really slow from left to right, and super fast up and down. I tried the EQ playnice, and it fixes the mouse problem, but then it really cripples my performance (I was getting a fps of 37 - 40 when I had it turned on).

Sigh, if it's not one thing, it's another heh. At this point, I'm just running it in the Alt + enter windowed mode (the EQW mode doesn't work with the 3D analyzer that fixes the Nvidia bug), and using the keyboard to turn for the most part. It's kind of annoying but it's better than nothing.
