This is not necessarily a technical support request, but more of a heads up/fyi for other players. My wife and I have been playing SoD for, well let's just say a while. We've always run antivirus programs and firewalls and never had any problems until just recently. In the past we used Norton Antivirus or Norton Internet Security, usually along with a couple of free anti-spyware programs. Many people have told me that Norton slowed down their computer and caused lag when playing SoD. However, we never had any noticeable issues with SoD or any other program. We were recommended to switch to another antivirus program by a computer tech after one of our PC's was infected despite running Norton. So, we switched to Webroot a couple years ago. When it expired last year I renewed the subscription. When the subscription expired a bit ago I chose to purchase a new version rather than renew the subscription (I don't like renewing subscriptions more than once, I don't know why, it's a quirck about me I guess).
Anyway, long story short: we installed Webroot on Sunday and when we tried to log in to SoD Monday night I froze my computer which caused a corruption in the patcher. My wife was able to load in, but experienced unplayable lag. Onceshe disabled Webroot, the lag disappeared. I disabled Webroot, but still could not run the patcher. I tried reinstalling to no avail so I did a PC restore back about 24 hours (I run a back up and PC restore point every Sunday ... again, a quirk). This fixed my problem. However, now, before we can run the patcher, I must disable Webroot (yay!). I tried turning the firewall off and leaving the program running, but it had no effect (still bad lag).
Anyway, just thought I'd share in case there are any other Webroot users out there.
