Another Person having Problem with crystal-on-pedestal for Arcane Quest

There is a post from 2006 that describes my same problem - I believe I have found the location in BB where I should see a clickable pedestal so that I may click on it to continue with the Arcane Staff quest. But, there is no pedestal in view at this location (under a ramp with Gnolls all around and water behind me and Barrels off to one side).

The post talks of selecting expansions during the install. I am willing to do that - I guess I missed it the first time(?) - but I am not sure how to get to the right place to do this. I cannot find anything hanging off of the patcher, except evetually EQ gives you the chance to "Update Owned Expansions" before playing, but I think that is for live, not SOD.

What do I need to do?
 
I also am having an issue with this quest -- although i see the pedestal quite clearly clicking it seems to have no effect. I have gem in inventory -- have tried clicking/right clicking the pedestal/the gem/my crystal in many different way to no avail. Am I missing something?

In game name is Olorin if you need to check quest flags, etc.

I had this same problem when i started playing and it turned out to be i didnt install EQ titanium, i installed a latter version of eq which had all the expansions of titanium plus others (cant remember which one)

you can try and follow the non titanium installation instructions

i tryed and not sure if i did it right or not but it still didnt work, i just located a copy of titanium installed it and everything works the way it should

You are right. I recently learned from a post in the tech support forum that the inability to see and thus click the crystal is due to running the game on SOF disks instead of Titanium. I have thus far been unable to purchase Titanium version so I am just going to stop doing this quest unless a GM or Dev would be able and willing to flag my Enchanter as having clicked the pedestal.

I do not know why the other person who posted in this thread, that apparently CAN see the pedestal is unable to activate it.
 
In my case, I did install from Titanium (still have a few copies around, and some evolution too).

I can see the pedestal, its just that nothing happens when i click it.
 
Murazor - just to have all bases covered do you have the gem on your curser while clicking on the crystal??

Inman - have you tryed the non-titanium installation procedure? it didnt work for me but honestly i didnt try to hard because i knew i had titanium laying around, so you may want to try it, will be a lot cheaper then going out and buying titanium.. and if it doesnt work maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling following the exact non-titanium procedure, as i tryed after i had already been playing.

Thank you for the suggestion. I am reluctant to mess with my current installation because it is for the most part, working and I am having a great time in game. I don't want to mess that up. Also, the procedures I have followed to install the game thus far all seem slightly out of date... I just don't want to open up a can of worms that might mean I cannot play. if it didn't work for you, that is yet another reason for me NOT to go down the path of danger. I dunno, I'll think about it. My idea situation is a GM flags me for this part but that may be naive of me to hope for - we are already given so very much for free (incidentally, I'll be signing up for "gold" support in January - I've been playing SOD for about 3 or 4 weeks now and I haven't had so much fun since EQ1)

Murazor - Yes, yes it doesnt like you. I have no clue how to fix your problem

Inman - I too havent had so much fun sense eq1... maybe even more fun then eq1 with the additions of adepts and quests(for usable loot)

For both of you, if you want to look me up (Mezzuri/Jagannath) i could log on your guys and click on the crystal to enchant your peaces (with the addition of Guestlock no chance of any deseption)

Honestly, this part should probably be changed to an invisible floating name mob set over the pedestal or something, so you can still do it without having to see or interact with the pedestal.
 
If it's the quest the crystal on pedestal is supposed to interact with the one you have in inventory, make maybe an area where the pedestal is that flags you like the "mapping quests" (thinking Silver Crown or PoLore quests for example)
Or the invis npc works too !
