Another COI question

Dalayan Elder
So I was on the part "Studying the locals". I was prodded all of the wasps, bears, and bats I needed, but had only gotten 4 or 5 trees. I went back to Rinbo Strongfoot to get another feedback prod from him. Hailing him didn't give the option to get one, but last night rehailing him after giving him new feedback would make the new prod option show up. I gave him the new feedback, but asked him "Can't take what anymore?" instead of rehailing him to get the prod option to show up. I asked him "what are you saying" and he bolted. It gave me the message that "studying the locals" was completed and "to play in the forest" had started. I didn't get any faction advancement or anything. Did I screw this up? It says I completed "studying" but I don't think I got enough trees. Is there anything I can do about it?

Sorry, forgot to mention this is in Shadowdale at the COI camp. I just tried to hail Rinbo at the same spot and it told me "You thought you saw Rinbo. You were mistaken."

OK, so now I went to Captain Vicky in Storm Sea to turn in the 12 large scraps of writing from First Ruins. I have done all the quests up to that point for COI. She tells me I'll need to advance in rank when I ask her about "Looking for work" "the undead" "what about hard?". I already have the Council Senior Assistant Badge. It is possible I blew this one too somehow?

Ok, I now see on the wiki I need junior researcher rank for the scraps one. The order they were in threw me off. Still gonna be a hard rank to obtain if I blew "studying" : /

No, it won't be hard. I got Rinbo to leave early too, and failed to escort him properly in the next quest. Still got the new rank without much trouble. Just make sure to hail every NPC at the CoI camps, and you'll get enough quests.

Are there COI quests that you know of not on the wiki out of curiousity?

Also as a suggestion/request type thing, if there's really nothing I can do about "studying the locals", could there possibly be some kind of warning inserted for folks doing this part in the future that following certain lines of questioning might cause abandonment of other tasks? (kinda like an "are you sure you don't wanna continue gathering feedback" kinda thing adapted to keep the flow of the story) I'm under the assumption we're encouraged to read all the npc dialog, yet in this instance I almost feel penalized in a way.

The 'penalty' is so small it doesn't really matter. It's almost entirely psychological.

I have a minor case of OCD so I can completely see that being the case. Little glitches like that tie my universe in a knot. If it's really that small a miss then no big deal. Thanks for the response.
