Ancient Bloodstained Finery has a very annoying proc

I was lucky enough to get this tunic recently for Korra but like most rust loot with MNK on it it appears the actual viability for monks was overlooked (much like the 7 wt dps legs and the 7.5 wt softly glowing metal).

When I bid for this tunic I believed it proc'd a normal root with a nice resist mod, which seemed mildly useful for holding agro but infact it procs root with a big ass knockback on it. This effect obviously has little use in the raid game - its an xp group toy, and for xp groups it makes the item near unmonkable.

So far i've had it almost get a cleric killed when a mob got knocked ontop of them and rooted and they thought they just had agro, it also consistently pisses off any melee in my group by knocking the mob around when I take damage through tanking or aux tanking and ends up actually reducing the groups overall DPS through missed hits enough to far offset the critical strike mod.

I'd really like the effect reconsidered as monks have already been overlooked on the items I mentioned above, and losing this tunic for xp'ing is a big shame cause the stats are really nice... :dumb:

Monks weren't overlooked on the other two mentioned items. Softly glowing metal made of, you know, iridium, which is a real metal that really exists and really weighs a shitload. For the LML, which I'm pretty sure is the dps legs you refer to, the legs are made out of mercury, which is again pretty darn heavy. The items are thematically based off the mobs they're from. There are several Rust items designed with monks in mind, it's simply that the two you listed aren't among them. So, to wit: just because a class is on the item doesn't mean that class should necessarily wear it, and QQ about "MNK viability in rust loot" becuase there's certainly no problem there (wru skysplitters).

All that said, the Lockdown proc on the ABF *is* meant to be beneficial, not detrimental. It's supposed to be a bit spicy, a bit unpredictable, but at the end of the day, handy-to-have automatic crowd control. If it's generally the experience of players with ABF that the proc isn't helpful, I wouldn't mind changing it.

Fair enough on those other items, though if they're really large lumps of metal then monks shouldn't be on their class list for consistency and all that.

As for player experience, I don't know how many other monks have that tunic. The effect is really neat for druid or something but the disruption it causes to any MNK or BST trying to tank or engage mobs is huge (ive been xping with it all day today, what a pain...)

I cant think of a suitable replacement effect, maybe a small self heal or stun or stun/root who knows!

Ive been on several groups with Rakeel, who has the tunic and its never bothered me or the group. Its pretty much a tunic you shouldn't wear when you are tanking, it has a very small chance of procing on a riposte from aux tanking.

I have one in mind. Unless someone jumps out of the woodwork and posts about how much they love the Lockdown proc, I'ma change it next patch.

I've never had problems with it in groups or raids, at times it can be annoying, especially when things get knocked back into a wall. But then again there are times its been really useful. I'm not gonna be the one that says I love it - but I don't hate it.

The proc is mildly annoying, however can we get a general idea of what you're thinking about changing it to? The new proc (if it is indeed a proc) might manage to be more annoying ;)
