New future player here. After much debate with a few of my fellow co-workers who are currently running SoD, I have decided to try out MMO once again. I used to play WOW and Lotro, so please excuse me from lack of intelligence of never getting started with EQ. I have always played mass online games, starting with my first addiction, Subspace. I should not have much problem jumping right in, but if you see me in the world having problems please help me out!

In some ways, not being used to the Live servers can be beneficial since you'll not have to adjust to the things that are different here. Keep the manuals with your game handy, the basic controls are the same, keep "/help" and "/cmd help" on your mind, and stay in the beginner guild (really good place for the basic questions you'll inevitably have).

Once you've got the basic commands down, like hailing, sending tells, talking in guildchat, memming spells, and using your inventory, you can bring up the options menu on the window selector or press Alt+O (the letter). Go to the keyboard tab and you can find all the cool shortcuts to get to everything you need. After that, you just have cool extra commands that are SoD-specific that you can check out with /cm help. Try "/cm help normal" to get a list detailing things like Adventure Bands, the Listsold System, and more.

Of course, there are going to be things in game, like finding things in town, that you'll want help with. You start in Dalaya's Beginners, and that's because it's the place to ask these sorts of questions. Go nuts and have fun.
