Granted I am not a game developer, but I am a programmer and avid mmorpg player. I have played everything from UO, EQ2 to WoW and all sorts of crap in between. The appeal of WR/SoD was the fact that it brought the old world eq back to life with subtle improvements. Six months ago, records for the number of users online was being broken and the server itself looked to be rock steady. With all the changes to travel, items, etc, the server has been in a serious population decline. You can point out this and that as problems, but in the end, those are the reasons. I could personally care less about the 5% of the population that has reached the end game and are bored.
As far as everyone supporting the change over to 2.0...HUH? Tallying the replies, it was overwhelming that the server continue as it is and create a new server for those that are bored / curious about 2.0. I know, I know, how dare I speak my opinion, I am just a player and this is your world, whatever, my time is still invested and for a quite a while so was my money, until all the changes came about.
This server was flourishing on the fact that it offered a nostalgic feeling to many players while offering all new mobs, items zones, etc and the fact that you could count on no drastic changes occuring. Those days are obviously over. I wish you good luck in your new endeavors and thank you for all the memories you have provided.
Take care,
Oscar
