I was wondering what is the policy on /afk XP. If anyone has played a mage, you would know that mage /afk XPing is very doable without the use of any Macros/ 3rd party software?

Would I get banned if I attempted to do this>?
 
Park myself with pet beside me by a single mob spawn. Mob will spawn, hit me once, pet will attack it and kill it.

Would have to be a low lvl mob ( light blue ), one the pet could kill with very little maintenance. but would be doable I am sure if one looked hard enough.
 
I realize what hes suggesting is frowned upon, but would it actually be against the rules, as they are written now?

Theres no macros, nothing involved but his character and the mob, so technically its within legal bounds, but it's not my decision obviously, depends on the GMs point of view, and with the new anti-macro/anti-botting code, i don't know if that kicks in off of simple getting xp and not having done anything with your character.
 
Yeah, as far as I understand it any unattended advancement is forbidden. Doesn't matter if you use a third party program or not... I don't think there is much more to it.
 
There is a good rule of thumb with this sort of thing.

If you do something that the staff very much does not want to be done - we most likely will put in a fix that makes it unable to be done. The problem with this is a good portion of the time this makes other areas of the class annoying or different or sad.

For instance- I am sure good monkly citizens would love to get their hands on the assholes who used FD to PL and got exp debt added to FDs aggro wipe.


Don't do this sort of shit.
 
So uhm, does this mean it is frowned upon if i kill some mobs and my AFK (sleeping) friend leechs xp while i do so?
 
You mean, like grouping with him and just letting him do nothing? I'd assume it'd be just like Adventure Banding in that respect, and I wouldn't see anything wrong with it.

Not exactly. Adventure Banding cuts exp in half (or more with more members) and grouping gives you the full amount. Not saying this is "right" or "wrong", but it really is not the same as AB'ing.
 
I am new to this and it seems the no matter the technicalities--the answer is NO don't do it, that simple.....why make it so hard?
 
You could avoid PL by looking at your computer and typeing /cm refresh every hour or so. But the point still stands... DONT AFK xp yourself its bad, its agest the spirit of the game/rules.
