Adventuring bands!

Some questions about adventuring bands. I allready know that I can level up an alt using the bands, and I also know that I can level up hordes of alts using this, however I don't know if I can turn off XP gained and if these alts would still get XP from the band. The reason for wanting this is so that I can have a few characters at a given level and change line-ups if needed.

I also want to change this cleric out with a shaman.

Also, how exactly is XP dealt with in adventuring bands? I know it's not split evenly as I gained a huge chunk on one character and a not-so-huge chunk on another.

ALSO, also, I've got a group of friends that doesn't play all that much. Would setting the three of them up with an adventuring band help or hinder them? They don't know the game that well yet, they all really like it, but since they don't really know what's going on I fear that if I level them up too quickly they'll be all :what:.

Thanks 'n' all that.

It's split evenly, but sometimes you receive large chunks, sometimes several smaller chunks. There is a BD thread that explains it all.

I read the other thread regarding the bands, but perhaps I missed this part:

Do racial bonuses/negatives factor in before or after the exp gets split?

For example, I\'m playing a wood elf ranger solo, but he\'s in a band with a human druid. I\'m ONLY playing the wood elf ranger (druid is offline). Does the human exp bonus get applied when the druid logs in or is it not factored at all in this case? Likewise, would this be the same for an iksar?

Yes, but consider that the max difference is 7.5%, which means that even if you go from 1-65 together you'll only be a few levels behind at most.

Oh I know it\'s a small amount really. I was just curious as to when the racial bonus is factored.

Last question:

If the human druid is playing, but not the wood elf ranger, is exp split first and then the human bonus is added on top? Just wanting to be sure that the human bonus or iksar negative is added after the exp split. I figure you\'ve already thought of it, but just looking to clarify. Otherwise bands with human players will have a bigger advantage than bands with iksars.

The exp is not split evenly - a 1000 point between 3 toons does not = 166.
And why don't the player who were adventure banded get the points all ready gained if the band is deleted before they come on. All those points just disappear into thin air.

I went from getting 28 points to getting over 400 after the delete. That still doesn't = 400.

Just really wondering where the points went that should have been awarded before the delete took place.

But it does.. I am assuming that all 3 are in the band..
the XP gets split between the members.. then for thos in the band it gets split again(for their band). Later everyone in the band gets their split from the band.

With 3 toons you kill something worth 1000xp each toon gets 500 pts which is then divided by 3(the # in the band) = 166xp Later each toon gets the band share (500/3)x2(the other band member shares) = 332xp for a total of 498xp/kill. so you do lose some due to rounding, but not a whole lot.

That's it for the math today.
