adding maps to my everquest folder

i asked karm about this the other day but i didn't quite get it. :p

several of the zones in WR don't have maps for me. for example netherbian lair, fungus grove, faentharc woods, eastern wastes, twighlight sea, crimson desert, and just a bunch of others. in fact, more do not have maps than do. and since i'm pretty good at getting lost, i really could use these maps :)

how would i go about putting these maps into the game? somebody please give me some detailed directions. like what site i can download the maps from and what type of file they are. (ie- .tga .txt .bmp) and do i need to install them any certain way or do i just dump them in the EQ folder?

thanks in advance

Height filter is probably the problem

Hello steenk,

First of all, check to see if the height filter is on. I'm not exactly sure if it's supposed to be on or off(common sense tells me off), just fool around with it.

If that doesn't fix it you probably don't have the maps for the zones. Go to www.eqatlas.com and check the cartography section. Download the maps there and put them in your maps folder. I've used the first 2 maps downloads and found that they have every map for every zone I've gone to. If you download the color maps I suggest you change the background color of the map from it's default white to something darker since most of those color maps use white.

The maps from eqatlas are in txt format. Simply put them in your maps folder and they should work.

Try zooming out as well. The mouse wheel works well with that.

Also, under the height filter button there's 2 boxes where you can imput data. The default is 10 and 10 in those I believe. Try changing that to 100 and 100. This will increase the area around your character that the map will show.

Post back here if you have any questions. As I read back through this it sounds kind of criptic so ask me if I need to elaborate on anything.

thanks i'll try that. but i did already know abou the height filter and zooming and such.. the maps im missing are just blank. will let you know how this works out. thanks again :)

Or you can just download these wrmaps made by Limpers Wu, he hosts wrcentral, go to the download section and there is the link.
I haven't tried em myself tho but I've heard people who use em and like em.
