Well, a while ago I was very puzzled seeing my kick ability not work on mobs that I pulled. After extensive chat and testing, it was determined that, in some circumstances, mobs stop too far away from you to be reached with your foot. You can fight it in melee, but you can't kick it because it is out of range of that ability. Bash/Slam and perhaps other abilities could be affected as well but I haven't tested it.
So, I'd just like a "out of range" message be added for kick, and also for other abilities that don't have one (if there are any).
