about pet names...

my apologies if this has been asked before, but i did a search and i didn't really find anything (but this is monday) - so...

how can i give my pet a two-part name? i've seen someone else's pet with it done, complete with a space, and it didn't occur to me to ask how he did it. using _ didn't seem to work when i tried it, so i'm wondering - is that something i can do, or is it something i'd have to ask a GM really nicely for?

(i'm new to WR, been here about a week, but... you guys have done a fabulous job with the place! it's always great when the right sort of people take over a concept and make it better just because they can.)

thanks!

aww.

Do you have to name your pet each time? or will the name you give it stick to all new pets till you change it? if it stick then maybe they havent changed it and its still the same from back when you could do it.

pet names are now stored, so it will work on player pets.
Special characters were removed after we saw pet names like @_@ and (.Y.)

You're lucky you still get to name your pet at all. Remember, pet names follow the naming policy as well, so no Pimpmaster pets.

ok, so are you saying then that it's now impossible for me to name my pet anything other than one word names? i can totally understand removing special characters with names that "creative", but it sucks that they ruined it for the rest of us. way of the world, i suppose.

but trust me, i'm not the Pimpmaster type.

What's wrong with one word pet names? Its good as it is, I couldnt be able to name Thingy with a second word! :) it's fine like this in my opinion.

pd: Thingy, I love ya...

Does coding preclude allowing for " " (spaces) while disallowing "!@#$%^&*()"?

If not, I see no reason why Spaces should be allowed. They're much less offensive then letters... if such a thing can be concieved of.

Lastly- "Thingy?" Not to be a nomenclature-nazi but that sounds to be in the vein of pimpmaster as far as I'm concerned.

gnomenclature...

Petnames aren't required to follow the naming policy as strictly, meaning a petname like "Thingy" or "Fluffy" will be overlooked as acceptable for pets. Any rude, annoying or offensive petnames, however, will be dealt with in a manner up to an including revoking your ability to name your pets at all.

Remember, the GMs are always right, and arguing with one if they tell you to change something will just make it a lot worse. We're not paid to be nice. Hell, we're not paid at all. :(

So, the pet naming policy is slightly lax, but you can still only have one word names?

I could have sworn I saw a beastlord pet named "Meat Shield" the other day though...
