about knights

hi. I'm a paladin freak and played EQ for 6 years, and new to WR. My character now is in the high 20s and i have done some quests but i feel something is missing. I'm weilding a warrior/ranger weapon there is no knights swords i have found yet, knights dont get the dual weilding advantage that the other classes have. What i'm trying to say is that knight classes need better ratio 1handers from the start, so that they can use with their shield and get some damage output. maybe more quests, I did the newbie quest that got me the sword of cleansing, and that sword has been sitting in the bank for a long time...maybe a new quest to upgrade the ratio?? a 10/20 weapon on a paladin still will not outdamage a warrior using 2 newb weapons but that will make me happy to see.

i have seen some but they are high end, not from newbie. for example i have killed many named mobs that drop weapons but they are all not design for a palading/shadow knight the weapons that regular mobs drop for example still you wont find a knight class specific weapon. You can see claws and knuckless drop that have a significant faster ratio than the rest newb weapons thats because they are design for monks and beastlords to use for fast hitting, and so are rogue piercers. then you have the so-so ratio weapons and the slow weapons warriors rangers and rogues can use that make good offhanders as long as damage is high. those weapons are also the only choice paladins and shadowknigts can use at low lvls. if you look at the attack cap of a knight compared to any other class you will see is much lower. EQ realized that because people complained and they released with the velious expansion better ratio weapons design exclusively for knights(talking 1handers). i feel a newb by the time classes can dual weild knights should have the ability to have knight swords with slight better ratio than the common warrior/ranger/rogue weapons. Thats is just a tought.

You're right, Laksha. In the early levels of the game, there are very few (if any) 1 handers that are better than 2 handers. For me, I used 2 handers up all the way into my late 40s and early 50s. Once up to that level and up to 65, there are a ridiculous amount Knight 1 handers with good ratios. However, there are very very few 2 handers that have a better ratio than 1 handers.

At the high end of the game, there is hardly a reason to use a 2 hander over using a 1 hander + shield. With pretty much the same ratios, why give up the benefits of using a shield?

For the innate 20% damage bonus on 2handers?

prolly casue we dont have fancy warrior tanking tools.
Im not high end, but i use a shield when being MT on stuff im not sure how well I can tank, or stuff I know is hard to tank, while usign a 2 hander for everything else.

I have 2 weapons, my tanking 1 hander + shield and my 2 hander to do dps, tho i usually always have 1hander + shield equipped because 2 hander isnt much more dps and in the event that something goes wrong, i want to have as much defense to tank as i can.

Same thing here, Volkov. If using a 2hander gave significantly more dps, it might be a viable solution. With so many 1handers having as good as ratios (if not better) of 2handers it's better to use a 1hander.

Choices: Great tanking and 100dps or mediocre tanking and 120dps.

(Not saying I do 100dps, just using an easy to calculate number.)

Comparision of 1hander vs 2hander is something like 70 dps vs 110 dps for equivalent-level ones.

HOLD HOLD HOLD, we are getting off the subject. I'm only sujesting adding kight swords for early lvl. I'm aware that there are knights swords at high end. Thats what the topic is about, as i favor 1handers for knights over 2handers and i dont get to see any as i play >_<

I'll put in a request for the QDs.

Hey Laksha, I have a nice weapon I can sell you ingame, it's a nice 15/24 (2 poison dmg) 1 hander for pallies and shadowknights, send me a tell ingame if you're interested.

Brond, Iven, Jarlok, Doregir are the characters I mainly play.

There are at least ten knight 1handers sub-40. They just drop in not entirely frequented places.

Id like to know what weapons your comparing. Ive only seen 3 really good 2handers on the high end, 1 for Pallys only, 1 for SKs only, and the other for warr, pally, SK, (best ive seen), which I want :p. Unless there are more elsewhere that im unaware of, which very well may be. :(
