A Question to PR about your host:

I'm looking into making a site for the new Dandy Gentlemen. (or Dandy Gentlemen: The Next Generation, take your pick)

I was wondering if you guys are happy with your hosting with freepgs and which plan you're on and if you'd recommend it for someone looking to avoid paying a lot. Also wondering if you actually use the whole of what's available on your plan or would suggest using a lesser plan. TYVM.

Freepgs SUCKS!

OK now that that is out, here is why:

LOTS of downtime, its seems a bit better lately, but connectivity is not really good over there. Not to mention that they dont know the word 'back-up'. In late 2005 PR lost its website + forums because their serverpark burned down... backups? no way man, u could start over :S

Find a decent website hosting for $5 a month, install phpbb. Anything else is just a bad idea.

Everyone in PR knows that freepgs.com can be.... flakey syduck: Yeah, it has been better lately.
But php + mysql + 'almost free' is nice. I *think* when PR signed up it was a one time setup payment too - that doesn't seem to be available anymore. Afaik we just have the most basic plan, mysql+php+ftp access, 250mb space, or something. Foonie will know the details ^_^

freepgs aint too bad. you can probably do better if you're willing to pay more.

When we signed up for freepgs it costed a one time payment of 1 dollar.

It has been bad other years, but we havent really had any troubles this year. maybe been down twice for half a day or something this year.

I think they really profesionalised there since the burning of their server park. And that we are quite lucky with how it is now for what we paid. Never had any storage problems so far.
