A question from a newish player

I resently started playing SoD again, and after not remembering my old accounts, or the emails I used, or most anything.. I am starting over fresh.. its probably better this way anyway. And I would like some input from everyone for as far as my current thinking goes with a dual box combo.

I am currently running and iksar monk and an iksar necromancer. I think I have settled on the monk, well mostly sure on it anyway.

What I am looking for is a strong duo, that lets me solo in dungeons if I have to. Though my preference would be to have others with me.

My question is, would this combo work out? how strong do the two classes work with each other.. what would be different on this combo than live? Is there perhaps a class you would recommend to replace the necromancer, if so, why?

Anyway.. just curious about my current class choises.. I would like to play a class that is desired in raiding and groups, and from what it sounds.. the monk fits the bill.

Thanks for anyone that can help me out here.

While i dont want to discourage you from trial and error, Monk/necro is probably not your best choice for a box, the monk focusing on melee, while the necro is more of kiting class, your gonna have alot of work if you want to box those 2 effectivly.

my suggestion is a priest class, most people will tell you that the shaman is the *better* choice to duo with a monk, im guessing because of the stat buffs, but i prefer druid for the ports (as you probably know, the books dont exist, and MoP can only take you so far) and druids get the all so über Thorns! not that the monk's DPS needs help.. but who would say no to free DPS? right?

that duo will pretty much get you everything you want from a duo, while i dont have the end game experience of some of the other players on the forum, i think i have sufficient to give some advice :)

P.S. Track is a named hunters wet dream too (which the druids get)

Actually a shaman is the best choice to duo with a monk because of the versatility that a shaman provides. Shamans have the ability not only to buff, but to slow, haste, heal and dps, all while having a nearly never ending supply of mana. Additionally, a shaman sounds like it'd fit your wants perfectly if you'd like to have others with you. With a shaman being able to do so many things (heal, dot, buff, slow, haste) and your monk being able to pull/split mobs, dps, and tank (kind of), you can basically take anyone who is LFG and put them in your group. Tank, healer, crowd control, dps, all will benefit your duo.

edit: Oh and tracking as a monk isnt really *too* needed, due to the fact that they can flop their way to a named's spawn place and check it.

well yeah, but tracking takes alot less time :) and i like to save time ;)

but like i said, druid is my choice, i mean, yeah, shaman buffs are So great, but i tend to travel alot, so i opt for the druid anyhow

just my 2 copper :)
