A question about bards and their lute loot

I did a search for stringed instruments and didn't really find anything very recent, so I thought I'd ask for some bardly wisdom:

Do any bards 55+ use a lute for anything other than down time? I guess what I'm wondering is if it's worthwhile to use a lute for healing songs or does the benefit not offset the loss of dps from equipping 2 weapons or a flute/drum? It apparently doesn't affect the mana regen portion of the songs and only increases the hp regen.

Of all the groups I've ever been in, I don't recall any bards using a lute outside of like 30's or 40's groups.

Thanks in advance for any infos. :)

Probably because there's so many items that aren't a lute that have the stringed mod on them....

So, by the time you're able to raid tier 2-4, there's items to replace a lute, and no need to equip one. Even Cmal 3 has a drop (although with revamp, stats listed on Wiki are probably too low now).

Keeping larger swarms locked down with snare from selo's assonant is all that really comes to mind. Maybe popping a lute in is worth it to pump the numbers on runic 2 but I doubt it.

Thanks for the quick reply. I realize there's a lot of instrument mods on non-instruments, but I'm more wondering if (barring your bard has a guitar sword) there is a reason to sacrifice dps for the extra healing.

My bard is only 56 and I've been hard pressed to find a reason to use a lute (and I have no instrument mods on other gear).

Thanks Rorne, was typing my other reply and didn't see your reply. I guess I forgot the snare was string based also.
