A mining question

I made an alt character just for mining. It was my intention not to bother equipping or leveling him significantly, but my experience in Blackburrow shows me that not all ore veins can be mined without the need for some combat.

So before I get too carried away on my alt, can I ask about higher level mining - dalium and upwards - would a neglected alt be able to successfully mine all the ore I would need for my main character's smithing career, or should I do my mining on a character I intend to play seriously?

Will need to level the miner up. There are mobs at the higher level too (if not more at the higher level)
 
Mining for Dalium in WW and Silver/Ghostmetal in East Badlands has no mobs. And if you choose the right deity, you will not be KOS past the ghosts in FR. And if you invis to one particular room in Heartlands, you can avoid also avoid aggro.

Bottomline: It is possible to not level up a miner. I recommend doing so eventually, just to make life easier. But you don't have to level him all the way right away.
