A major annoyance...

Alright, hello everyone. I'm new to SOD, but I've played EverQuest on public servers on and off since around 2000. I've watched Sony poisen the game with expansions and I've seen it slowly deteriorate over time. I still love the game nonetheless, and I just want to thank the people who are keeping this private server.

Now, the real reason I came here... As usual, like with any MMO and me, I'm fussing around with the controls and UI before I actually dive into real gameplay. I'm happy with the UI's customization, I can get it the way I want it. This is the problem: I can't get something's alternate control to be like "-------", and it would just be easier to customize them if I could figure out how to do that. I don't really want any Alternate Controls, and there are some controls that I don't want at all, and I just want them be "-------". I know you think this is ridiculous, I'll of course still play if I can't get the controls the way I want them. It all sums up to "I'm awkward".

It would be greatly appreciated if someone was willing to committ a few minutes of their time to explaining this to me.

Hahahaha! I was afraid to post asking what "-------" meant. I figured it was so obvious that I just missed it (ya know ... the blonde that I tend to be).
 
I'm pretty sure they are talking about changing the keyboard options...

Like, instead of 'auto attack' being "A", changing it to something else.

I could be totally off the mark, but I'm pretty sure that is what they mean.


You can set most of these under options in game iirc.
 
Yeah under options, sec lemme load up the game here, and I'll give you a rundown rq. But basically from what I think you're asking you just want to nix all the alternate controls. Yeah basically just click on the alternate, then hit esc




Stuff is pretty customizable.
 
I'm wondering why this is a question if you played live since 2000. It's the same client :what:
 
He's asking how to unassign a control key. I honestly don't know how to do it either, I just have a dump key that I put anything I want to null on.
 
Find the command you want to change, left-click on what's in the "Keypress" or "Alternate" column ... when it changes to "press a key", hit escape and it will be cleared.
