A few questions from a WR newbie

I started playing WR earlier this week. Like many others lately, I found out about it throught WTFComics. After learning the new lore, I once again feel like a newbie as I did many years ago. But with that new feeling, comes some questions. So, here are my questions:

Are there merchant sold backpacks in the game or just the large bags and belt pouches that I've found?

Can I use the archery targets in North Newport for skill ups? If so, can I practice my melee skills (namely 1h slashing) instead of archery on them?

When a mob starts to retreat, Snare doesn't stop it anymore. Is this intentional for Snare? If so, is Ensnare more effective in stopping the mobs from fleeing?

Do some spells still require components?

Thank you for any replies I receive.

I'm fairly new myself having started first of May, but I'll try to answer some of your questions as acurately as I can.

Yes, you can find them in the daytime hours. In Newport for instance, there's a halfling merchant near the clock tower who sells them.

Yes you can use the archery targets for skill ups. There are also throwing dummies in the rogue guild to practice throwing (unfortunately they only seem to like rogues down there). No idea if there are any melee dummies.

I have noticed this to. Snaring doesn't even seem to slow them down when they've turned to run, they seem to speed up, or maybe it's just my imagination. Although lately, it is MUCH easier to kill while chasing a mob. Thanks Wiz for fixing that!

Yes, cleric buffs still need gems. Enduring Breath now takes Fresh Fish as a component and Levitate uses batwings as usual.

the whole mob fleeing thing and having a hard time hitting them when they "walk" away is a client side problem, and the WR team can't edit the client as they would be breaking copyright laws. fyi

it also has to do with synchrinization between client and server, there's a lag between WR servers and our boxes. /shrug it's something like all of that.
