57 monk advice

Since so few people make these types of posts and I find these to be the most useful, fun (for everyone), and informative I thought I would seek some forum advice. I wish there were more threads like this to help out the less informed players like myself.

So... I am looking for some gearing advice for my 57 monk. I've currently locked him there to do a couple traek/pounder raids, for fun, and will more than likely level him to 65 after one more adept raid. Aside from the obvious imphide armor what are some easily attained, quality, pieces of gear?

For example, I don't plan on purchasing any sort of rings due to the newport ring V and the two DS rings from tmaps being readily available and both fairly solid for their slot. I chose to buy one imphide wristband since I am unlikely to find two really solid wrist slots for a while. I'm wondering if the amice and mask (as both slots are rather difficult to find good pieces of gear for) are also worth the investment or if there is a piece of gear that I am overlooking? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Secondly, how should I be augmenting my gear? Up until now I simply tried to find the cheap 5-40pp (depending on the item quality) to augment my gear. Due to the lack of cheap augs I just grabbed whatever stat I could without much preference. On my druid it was obvious to augment for mana and on my paladin AC. But should I be aug'ing for AC, HP, or resists on this monk? It appears that most high end monks augment for resists, but I'm not sure that applies to me yet? At what raid tier should that become my focus?

Lastly, which early charm should I pick up. I remember seeing an awful lot of monks using "charm of the guardian", however I'm wondering if I would be better served with the "charm of war" or just sticking with the "charm of the brute". Which leads me to my final question of the usefulness of Mruuk's Combat Boca? I assume it is best used in the offhand, but at what level do fists overtake it (particularly in conjuction with the the "charm of the brute")? And on that note, at what level should I ditch the Mruuk's for bare fists? Mruuk's just seems like a counter productive tankish weapon that is way too fast leading to the mob riposting more often. Is that an accurate assessment?

Ive never geared a monk, so I can't help there much, but I did notice most of your gear has little or no AC, which is certainly going to be important if you are pulling, or attacking mobs from the front, but to address your combat boka:

As far as ratio goes, your fists will overtake boka at lvl 63, when they become 13/19. Your assessment about riposte is correct and simply explained, the more you hit a mob, the more chances it has to riposte you.

To be honest, I would stay at 57 and farm treak/pounders. The 33% hase headband off treak will be with you a few tiers into the raid game. As per augs, I would aug for resists and/or hp. Personally, I prefer resists over hp, but there is a long standing disagreement between monks as to which is superior, as both are incredibly useful.

The reason I think stayin at 57 is a good idea, is you can AA very fast, while farming a bit of pp, and wiating on traek/pounder loot. I've always found it a lot easier at 65 if when I ding 65 I have 100 AA versus only a few. Charm wise, there are a couple options. While the charm you have helps with dps a little, the 20ac 10sta/agi 10% dodge charm has alwayas been a favorite of mine, since I see a monk as a puller first, and dps second.
