2 quick questions

Hello,

I have two quick questions for the staff. Not too worried abotu either one, but wouldnt mind some clarification.

1: Was the new relic system intended to force people to do the mainquest? Putting the new guy in erimal city is pretty unfair to those who dont want to participate in the lore of the game. I for one did the MQ the day after each peice came out, but i can also see why this would miff people.

2. I was told today that Inner prison is a 5 day pop and outter prison was a 10 day pop. I was curious where this decisions logic comes from. Usually a zone has either all the same pop, or the boss mob is on a longer repop than the easier stuff.

Thank you in advance.

1. Yes
2. Not sure, but the spawn times do vary on OP (aka not a static 10 days).

The other option for the relic system was the North factions. You can see where more of a problem would come in there than having to spend a day or so working on the main quest to gain access to Erimal.

forced questing is a cop out imo. there should be an alternitave for people who don't wish to quest. perhaps pay 500 plat for a one time safe passage?

no rent seekerstone you could buy just outside?

*scratches her head* This has always puzzled me. Why would anyone who doesn't like to quest even buy a game called Ever *Quest*?

because eq2 stole my soul with all the forced quests...

and honestly you can get to high end EQ without ever doing a single quest and this holds true on SoD.

i play to raid not to quest

Same here. I despise questing.

I didn't know what Ever"Quest" was when I bought it, and never quested while playing for three years. I just don't enjoy it.

Well, perhaps consider that your style of play may not go at the top of the ToDo list. From what I understand, you aren't complaining that the quest is broken, you just don't want to do it. So, don't do it and live with the consequences. If you don't like the consequences, then do it. It seems like a simple enough work around.

Its so strange that people want the perks of the quests, without the effort.

I play to raid not to quest

Raiding without questing was pretty much impossible on live. At least since higher level Luclin encounters.

And really, the MQ is done in no time for a level 65 with raidgear

If you play to raid, then perhaps you'll atleast recognize the importance of having the items from the MQ, even more so now if you ever want a relic.

Suffice it to say, I, and I don't mean to speak for Wiz here, but I feel confident he feels the same way, really could care less if people won't do the quests. If you want relics, you'll get a Seeker rune.

It's called the "Main Quest" because we feel it's important enough that everyone should do it.

It was requested that we add in a quest turnin system for relics due to the rather randomness of obtaining relics through the old system. Lots of folks felt that some were too rare compared others, or harder to obtain, etc(even though they all had the exact same chance of dropping).

The two options available were:

Put quests in the two North factions, which would result in grinding faction to a certain point before you could turn in your relics.

The other option was what we chose, to put the relic turnin in Erimal - it both gives the Seeker outpost in Erimal more value over simply being there for the main quest, and also gives further incentive to doing what we feel is already a very important quest line. It should also be much less timeconsuming than grinding out faction in the North, and also rewards you with something other than the relics - an augment which you will not ever replace, as well as a better knowledge of the history of the world and WHY you're doing what you may be doing.

Isn't there an easier choice?

To just make a dude in Newport go "here's da relic, enjoy."

Or for those who don't want to enter newport, make it in some other easily translocatable spot. Why attach any kind of faction to it? I guess for certain "lore" and "realism" aspects of the game. I just don't see why people are now forced to go to even more work for something that before merely dropped off a mob, and could be bought for certain amounts of money.
