+1 cold damage gloves

The +1 cold damage only takes effect if you're just using your hands, correct? That's what I've assumed for a good while now, but last night a pair dropped in Sorcerer's so I'm wandering if they would be of any use to a rogue?

A definitive bare fists or h2h answer would be appreciated.
 
Id like to know about this as well... The rogue starfall has a +1 poison that goes in range. Now tell me: how useful would that be for a range item since you cannot use range weapons!? I believe it SHOULD be that those +1 XXX dmg add to melee dmg regardless, or else that starfall is just a bad joke with cure poison.
 
As far as I know, the +1 damage on the Crucible adds to melee damage. Well, I assumed that anyway, since it would be utterly useless otherwise.

I'm quite positive that rogue starfall is all damage. But monk starfall which is fire damage is either fists or h2h.
 
I have a pair of gloves that proc burn on h2h attacks only and they still proc with yaralith's fist. So I'd imagine you will get the +cold damage if you're using a h2h weapon.
