I recently realized that different people seem to see a different variant of the Scaled Wolf (a.k.a. Chokadai / Co`dair). Out of curiosity, which of the following do you normally see, Model A or Model B? Do you normally see one, but occasionally pop into a zone and realize you suddenly only see the other version?

Am I an oddball in that I see A 95% of the time, but I see B in a very few select zones (such as Bloodied Quarry or Windstone Caverns)? I used to think it was this way for everyone, but apparently some (most?) people only ever see Model B... :psyduck:

For the record, Model A is from Kunark and Model B (I think) is from Legacy of Ykesha. Correct me if I'm mistaken.

I feel like I vaguely remember Wold trying to make the high-poly one global somehow but don't think it stuck.

Scaled wolf model is a bit quirky all around; the older one is shoved into the regular Wolf model ID in spite of having different identifiers (WOF vs WOL) and source files. There is a dedicated ID for the nicer one which comes from a dedicated file... but is also called WOF. If I remember correctly, the higher-poly one will take precedence over the lower-poly one if the lower-poly one is not loaded, which seems backwards.

edit: make that, low-poly model ID will load the high-poly model if it's the only one available, while conversely the high-poly model ID will load the low-poly model if it's the only one available... I think. Would only need to muck around with the _chr.txt files to check it out, pretty sure. "wof,fieldofbone_chr" is the entry for the low-poly model while "wof,wof_chr" is the high-poly one.
