Bees

I am happy to revert the change. From my experience playing a druid, and my understanding of others who do, Nightfire as a DPS tool was marginally better than Doomswarm and pretty much negated the use of Doomswarm except in select situations.

I figured letting Doomswarm be a Relic-Necro+ DoT outdoors would give Druids a useful spell but limited enough in scope to be balanced. Regardless of how "arbitrary" you think these sorts of distinctions are, they allow different classes to be different strengths in different areas. We *want* that sort of thing as it makes class balance more flexible than just who has the best raw DPS, the best raw Healing, et al.

Looking through logs, it does not seem like the old Doomswarm was used all that much except by a few people (who also happen to be the most vocal). But again, if there is widespread dislike from druids I can revert it. You are not about to get some sort of general upgrade, though, that works everywhere and purely increases druid DPS.

Thanks for the post Waldoff.

I REALLY like the graphic & the work that was put into it! It is fun seeing those little BEES! swarm after a creature.

So I'm partial at keeping the graphic, but I also miss my ability to use it inside.

Dots and roots are my way of being able to do some inside CC / DPS & Heals at the same time.

Since "Creeping Crud" is still usable inside, would it be possible to get an upgrade to that spell close to the lines of the old inside Doom-swarm or the lesser Crawling Swarm? And leave the patched "Swarms" in game. I'm not looking for a boost in DPS so the upgrade could be inside-usable only. Maybe: Marring Muck or something earthy like that.

Thanks,
Rora

I don't think it's balanced. I think it's too good outdoors. Don't change it though, because I am sure lower end druids will love this change. I will rarely use this spell now and I am probably in the minority.

i will miss having a dot when doing stuff indoors but i suppose spamming nightfire will have to do. i would say i agree with the idea that the dot can be used indoors but the swarm of bees portion wouldnt work (there are bugs underground/indoors aside form bees you know)

I don't play a druid so let me be clear this is not a vote in either column but what if as a compromise you lowered the damage slightly allowing the spell to be used anywhere but with the bee component of it only working outdoors.

OR

I imagine since the distinction is already made by the game whether you're indoors or outdoors some kind of penalty to damage like the night reduction for healing could be applied although this might be a bit of work for just one spell (but could open interesting avenues for the future)

Should be happy it's only an indoor/ outdoor thing. Could be worse and have casting Bees in water not possible, as bees underwater would be silly and outlandish.

Bees? Underwater? Come on, that's ridiculous!

Okay, so at first I was super annoyed at having the indoor restriction, but now I'm just giggling at my BEES!

It *does* annoy me that my indoor DPS is now ... nukes. Rather than reverting the swarm line, what is the possibility of our fire debuff line going to where it's at at level 52 & prior spells, having a DoT component to it, rather than a (pretty much worthless) nuke? Up until Breath of Tarhyl, it's an AC/Fire debuff, with a DoT. At 56 (Tarhyl's Burning Disjunction) the duration is greatly increased, but the DoT component is removed. Perhaps lower the duration, add the DoT component back in?

Even if it's less DPS than the swarm line was, as it should be due to the debuff, it could be useful. Other than boss mobs or trash with REALLY high hitpoints, I rarely use even the archaic debuff, because the mob dies too fast for it to be worthwhile (no, I'm not saying this change should be applied to archaic as well!).

Just an idea.
