OK, so I got my geek on today to the tune of the Ep3 opening, and I must say, Mr. Megalomaniac redeemed himself. I still think the dialogue is prime Lucas-ian brand of hokey, but the storyline was sound and the action was beautiful.

Any other opinions?

The action was slow and boring and didn't compare to Episode 1 or 2, Hayden Christensen managed to act even worse than in the last film and Jar Jar didn't die within the first ten minutes of the film. They also managed to make the Jedi Purge extremely gay, and Yoda didn't even get to kick ass.

I was thoroughly disappointed. Don't see this movie, kids.

BAH! Fuck off Melwin, that movie owned.

Everyone went in knowing that:

Annikan would turn to the dark side.
Padme would have 2 kids, and die.
Annikan would find his way into a big-black-bondage suit.
Obiwan and Yoda would be the last surviving Jedi.
Palpatine would be outed as a Sith Lord and take over the bloody universe.

And yet... the ending was still a suprise. The action was NOT slow and boring. The Obiwan/Annikan fight was fucking fantastic -- The Yoda/emporer fight was very well done. The only thing that left me wanting more was the Mace Windu/Emporer fight.

Best part of the movie was the incredible mind bending moral desctruction of Annikan gone Vader. You really leave the movie with sympathy for him.

Melwin: You weren't sitting in the Essex theater in burlington, wearing a tight blue shirt and jeans were you? Cause I think I beaned you with a waterbottle for being a whiney motherfucker during the movie. Or atleast I wanted to.

I was thoroughly impressed. Go see this movie, Kids!

Yes... but the way he became vader, the mutation of the Emporer's words, The way his conscience was broken into a zillion pieces -- That we didn't know.

He turns into a 14 year old goth?

Is it a must see in theater? Or can I get away with watching the DVD when it comes out? I was really let down by the last two/first two (what ever you want to refer to them as).

Just curious what everyone's thoughts are.

PS. Hope my kids don't become goth. :)

Yeah, it's definitely not a boring movie, even if the acting gets pretty cheesy. Anakin says, "I'm so confused! Let's kill everyone!"

The first 20 minutes of graphics make the movie very nice, and I laughed when the Emperor melted himself and blames it on his enemy. Anakin proves his manhood by picking on weaker folks. :o

The visuals are fantastic and Obi Wan's character rocks. The movie seems as good as Episode II, but I wouldn't call it better.

But at least the Emperor got to act evil and that was worth it! His laughing was the coolest. <3 It's a horrible shame nothing happened to Jar Jar.

Yes I've seen it twice,it kicked ass.Its a shame its going to be the last star wars movie made.

Perhaps George Lucas has an apprentice that will some day make more entertaining and imaginative works.

No someone is bound to "re-imagine" (god I hate that bastardized word) his movies.

I picture Will Smith being Han Solo - "Yo Greedo! I know ya'll didn't just try ta pull no blasta on me!" (cue canned laughter)

Ugh....

This from the guy who went to go see "Hitch" (and liked it)....

Yeah, so anyways, I liked Eps3. A lot. Much better than 1 and 2, in fact better than 4 and 6. Also, the Clone Wars animated series was surprisingly good. The animation is pretty average - nothing spectacular - but very cool story line and fills in a huge chunk of time between Eps 2 and 3.

Good movie, worth seeing in theater, but one aspect of it really disappointed me;
It was supposed to be the episode where almost all the jedi died, so i was expecting alot of cool fast action jedi fight scenes. There were some between main characters, but the rest of the jedi got shot in the back by droids and the clones.... lame.
Just my opinion. :D

ps. Did anyone else think it was cliche at the end when darth vader held his arms at his side and screamed "NOOOOOOOOO!" as the camera slowly panned out? Just thought that was kinda.... cheesy....

Thumbs up from me. I thought it was great. I did, however, think it was very dark. In a good kind of way, but it was still really sad.

It seemed cobbled together. They just kind of mashed everything together, imo.

And Jesus Christ, what an awesomely cheesy line with the big "NOOOO"

wah wah wah.

Aside from that, I enjoyed it. It reminded me of the old movies in a weird way.
