I went ahead and made a Pally and a Cleric yesterday. I know, not the most original combo, but I wanted to test the server out. So far, I really like it. Anyway, I've been playing EQ off and on since Kunark came out. I've never really 2boxed succesfully (although I have 6 boxed on another emu server... boy that was hard) untill tonight, which I guess is a good sign.
Anywho, I'm looking for a fun combo. Prefferably with something that does melee damage and a healer. No warrior/cleric combo. No Pally/Cleric combo. No Shaman/Monk combo (unless someone gives me some BIG reason for it). Nothing too difficult... prefferably without kiting (I don't really enjoy kiting). I am up for odd combos though, such as necro and BM... however I would like to stick to the tried and true formula.
Classes I have an affinity to: Shadowknight, Shaman, BM, Druid
Also, It'd be great if some non-uber fun guild could pick me up. I'm pretty laid back and just like to group with some people, kill lots of mobs, do some quests, and have some fun.
there are a lot of threads regarding duo combos. I'm gonna add my 2 cents.
If i had to reroll, i'd go for beastlord / druid. Slow/heals/ports/sow/dps/tank. You have everything available here but real crowd control. Beastlords are really fun to play here, and druids are excellent healers.
PS : Wooma ftw ! :haw:

As much as it pains me to admit it in public, I would agree with Yona :keke: Though you know, if you have affinities with those four classes, just create one of each - it won't take you too long to level all of them up to level 20-25ish and by then you'll probably be able to decide which of them work best for you as a combo.
Personally I play necro + bard. Not the most obvious duo, but heh, 2 CC/dotting classes ftw
As for guilds, there are a few out there which do not have strict requirements regarding levels - the first that comes in mind is the newly created Tears of Hate, and I'm sure you'll find others in the Guild Listing section of these forums.
Nice postcount Elodie :toot:

lol. A GM with a post count of 2. Clearly the staff is insane.

Yeah thats pretty bad lol.
Out of the classes you listed a SK/Shammy team would be the best when it comes to overall utility and power.
Beastlord/Druid would be pretty damned fun tho

Have to ditto this. SK can tank, Split/pull, Self heal, DoT, agro control and way more fun with shaman for buffs, slows, DoTs, heals and more.
Winning team!

I enjoyed my Shadowknight/Druid Duo a lot.

I enjoyed my SK/Shaman duo, but found the monk/shaman to be easier.
My latest duo was druid/rogue....but I started off rogue/bard. Crazy right? :-/ Honestly the rogue/bard duo got into the 40's without too much trouble and since most duo's out there are a tank and healer, my rogue/bard combo fit in nicely in lots of groups. It'll make you crazy 2 boxing a rogue and bard though...at least later on it will when you need to CC with the bard.
Every duo you pick though will be better in certain places than others.
I like playing the shaman more than the druid, but ports are REALLY handy especially when doing the main quest.

Gah! I can't decide between BM/Druid or SK/Shammy. I was also thinking about Bard/Shammy, but I'm not too sure on how much damage bards can take since I've never seen one get hit.
My main concern is damage done. My Pally/Cleric doesn't do much damage and fights seem to take forever =\.

The only problem with Pally/Cleric is redundant spells really. But I imagine that duo is hard as hell to kill. I never tried it, but I'd be curious to try the PAL/SHM duo. As for damage dealing, paladin does a decent job. My best friend played a pally/druid combo and it worked out well.

I tried several combos for myself and besides the famous Necro/Shaman thingy or even Necro/Wiz thing I like Monk/cleric pretty much but it's somewhat of an obvious duo.
Some other ideas would be Pally/Rogue or Ench/Rogue but it'd be a lot of work to solo either of those combos.

I think I'm going to actually try a Bard/Shaman duo. I found out today that a group of my friends are going to be playing and I think this combo would not only do decently as a combo, but would also do awesome in a group setting.
Thoughts? Comments?

Both classes solo pretty good and they combine a lot of utility. All in all a good choice IMO, especially since you plan to play with your friends.

It's settled then. Bard/Shammy it is.

Only problem you'll run into is not being able to tank/melle with brd/shm or brd/dru after about lvl 35 or so. Bards just aren't able to take the hits or do that much melle dmg.

Bards can tank most exp stuff just fine, and if done right they can keep agro almost as well as a Paladin/Shadowknight.

Paladin/Shaman duo is alot of fun
Paladin can tank just fine, and have good DPS
Shaman debuffs + Dot + Pet and heals
Worked rather well so far :)
The other duo I am trying out is Bst + mage I know theres alot of hate for mages and many people have said in this thread and in game that Bst + Druid would be better, however I played a druid to 58 on Live so I wanted to play something different, never did a Mage or a Bst so here I am :)
I have also heard that Necro + Druid is a nasty Duo

The only problem i found w/ bard tanks is they hold agro about as well as a fish. Also like all tanks they rely on gear alot.

Necro/Druid is a pretty nasty combo. Druid root, snare, and dots plus necro dots? Both have pets, plus druid can heal and ghetto crowd control.
Works pretty well.
